After the extraordinary euphoria that followed after setting up my blog (a grand total of two pple told me they read it), it’s come to a point where I don’t really know what to type next. About the weekend, it wasn’t quite as brilliant as I imagined with Manchester United not beating Newcastle and Chelsea winning 4-0 (by cheating as usual) and surprise surprise Liverpool actually won away at Sunderland. Normally in previous years (the last 18 actually), they have failed to stamp their authority in games like these and have usually dropped points. Let’s hope it’s a start of another false dawn..muahahaha. A couple of positives came out of the weekend’s premiership though, seeing Nasri, a player whom I haven’t previously watched score on his Premiership debut. I reckon he’s a really good player, good with both feet, very dynamic in his off the ball movement and surprisingly strong considering that he was playing against pretty physical opponents. Hope he does well. Once again, Fletcher proved to the not-so-observant crowd that he’s a quality player with a well-taken goal that emphasised his qualities as a box to box player who runs all day. The only blot on the copy book was that he was marking like how I usually do when Newcastle scored first!
To compound my misery, the Subi Reserves lost to South Perth as well which kinda knocks the stuffing out of our “championship” challenge. Was tasked with the unfortunate assignment of marking my second African (no rascism here) in a space of 3 weeks. The other week, it was “Simba”, on sunday, it was “Perfect” and today at indoors I had to mark “Tea”. Very exotic names…They were tough to mark, let’s hope I don’t have a Rush Hour 4 partnership a la Jackie Chan / Chris Tucker the next time!
Also met with a very interesting incident on Sunday that I felt was a good test to my two ”wives”, patience and grace. Having had problems with these two wives in the past, I was given a little test at the casher’s in the supermarket on Sunday morning. This is how the conversation went:
Cashier: Would you like to pay by cash?
Huangster: Sorry I don’t quite have any cash with me, could I pay by Eftpos (Swipes card and waits for the magical words “Pin number please”)
and waits…..
and waits…..
Cashier: Excuse me! I can’t key in your pin for you!
To be honest, I was in a little bit of shock for a while before a thousand nasty replies started to float my head. I believe that in many small ways, God has worked in my life to equip me well to handle such situations appropriately. Composing myself, I just replied calmly but firmly “Yeah I know, No worries”. Surprisingly, she gave a nice thank you in the end and I replied likewise. From time to time, people of an irate nature do cross our path making it difficult to respond gracefully. We normally ask ourselves if we should tell the person off or give the person the required grace. However, you can never go wrong with giving grace as Matthew 5:5 says “Blessed are the meek for they will inherit this earth.” It is also important to note that as Christians, we do not fall into the devil’s trap of misunderstanding that verse and become a doormat for others and compromise on God’s word as Acts 4:29 requires us to step forward and speak His word with “great boldness”. I’m so blessed to know that God has chosen to work in my life =)
