This post is for History and music lovers especially those that are eternally obsessed with orginality… I’m sure most of you all have heard of the legendary Mr Brown show. Not sure if any of you remember the one “episode” that had Hossan Leong singing a pretty cool song about Singapore that goes something like this….
Sang Nila Utama saw a lion very far….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myqyKZsknmw ..I’m sure you can view the rest for yourselves. Pretty nice succinct song that describes Singapore pretty well with alot of local flavour. Only thing was that it took me 6 months to find out that the whole tune wasn’t original and that I only found out when I started working for sonshine fm!
Anyway, just to enlighten the crowd, the original tune was from the song “We didn’t start the fire” that was sung by Billy Joel and talks about World History. Interestingly, Bill Joel said that he would have become a history teacher if not for music. Trust me, it’s from wikipedia, therefore it must be true. Here’s the link to the song, ”We didn’t start the fire” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKu2QaytmrM. Enjoy peeps. Good for general knowledge as well. =)
