In Pommyland (Prisoners of Her Majesty referring to England), Spurs continue to sink lower and lower down the league with defeat at Stoke, the situation continues to be dire for the once great club. From Champions League to Championship aspirations, it can’t get any worse for Ramos as star players continue to underachieve and their ordinary players performing well…ordinarily…Manchester United contine to play like the greatest club in the world by thumping West Brom 4-0 at Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney continues his hot scoring streak that hopefully goes longer than the usual 3-4 games. He gets berated from all quarters for all sorts of silly things such as not scoring enough and playing too deep. Frankly, we get too many people-that-can’t-pass 5 yards-for-their-life watching the game and they seriously should stop criticising and start trying to understand the dynamics of the game. It’s just like criticising a person’s driving when you don’t have a license isn’t it? Doesn’t make sense. We are only going to get players like Rooney once every 10 years. He’s one of the few players that can win the game all by himself and spectators or fans need to be more encouraging if he is going to reach his fullest potential…
Elsewhere, Liverpool continue their winning form by beating Wigan 3-2, Wigan’s Egyptian striker, Zaki is an awesome finisher and has exceeded expectations with his rising goal tally..think it’s 7 or 8 in total and could be hot property come the end of the season. I’m starting to get worried about this Liverpool winning streak as I haven’t seen a run of ridiculous results since they won the European Cup in 2005. They don’t have that deep a squad though as compared to the likes of Chelsea so they would have to hope they get the rub of the green with regard to injuries and their key players such as Gerrard and Torres to be on form right through to the very end.
Chelsea are the team to beat at the moment considering that they beat Boro (who are rubbish anyway) 5-0 despite a host of injuries. Then again nobody likes them and the fact that the two most unpopular (well at least in my opinion) clubs play each other would mean there’s a chance for the rest to close the gap.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo continues to border on the obsessive. It’s a sad indication of the state of the game these days when one club deliberately tries to derail the other with such annoying kidology. Bernd Schuster (an annoying fart even during his playing days) continues to make provocative statements on how they would love to have Ronaldo at the club. Mate, I hope you finish 5th this season and lose the Champions league final so that you won’t qualify for it. I really do. You deserve nothing less. On the funny side, does anybody remember this guy? Click on the link to watch. Older fans might remember him…
Cheers,
Dan
